Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

In this role the work is a bit broad… not just coding but handling the full system.

Infrastructure & Operations:

• You will have to be in on-call rotation, meaning sometimes even at night you may need to solve issues
• If any problem comes in production, you have to respond immediately
• You have to design and maintain highly scalable infrastructure on AWS
• Need to build failover and recovery systems so that system does not go down
• Infrastructure automation using Terraform or CloudFormation
• Strong work on Kubernetes (EKS/ECS) is required
• OS patching and upgrades also need to be handled

Monitoring & Observability:

• Monitoring using tools like CloudWatch, NewRelic, Splunk
• Analyze system performance and find optimization opportunities
• Create dashboards and alerts and automate them

Automation & Tools:

• Build scripts using Python or Bash
• Implement CI/CD pipelines (deployment automation)
• Create self-service tools for developers
• Reduce manual work through automation

Security & Compliance:

• Apply cloud security best practices
• Manage IAM roles and policies
• Participate in security audits
• Fix vulnerabilities

Collaboration:

• Work closely with developers and SRE team
• Maintain documentation (this is important but people ignore it)

Required Technical Skills

See, skills here are a bit heavy… if you know all this then you are definitely a strong candidate:

• AWS services: EC2, EKS, ECS, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, MSK, SageMaker
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker
• Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation
• Git version control system
• Strong Python or Bash scripting
• CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Argo
• Networking basics: TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing, CDN
• Security concepts: Firewall, VPN, SSL/TLS
• Understanding of microservices architecture and event-driven systems
